With a strong passion for food, the Lee family from Taiwan in 1989 emigrated to New York City. They found themselves in a promising family business cooking and selling gourmet Chinese vegetarian food out of their own kitchen. In three years, what started out as a small business quickly outgrew their kitchen and led to the establishment of Water Lilies Foods, Inc. a modest facility of soley vegetarian cuisine borne in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
